Sculptra

Collagen-stimulating injectable treatment to improve facial structure, firmness and gradual volume restoration

Sculptra is a collagen-stimulating injectable treatment made from poly-L-lactic acid. Rather than creating an instant filler effect, it works gradually by encouraging your skin’s own collagen production, helping to improve firmness, support facial structure and soften areas affected by age-related volume loss. It is often chosen by patients who want subtle, progressive rejuvenation with a natural-looking result that develops over time.

Best for
Age-related volume loss, reduced firmness, facial hollowing and softening of facial structure.

Ideal if
You would like gradual, natural-looking improvement rather than an immediate change, and want to support collagen and facial structure over time.

Treatment areas
Cheeks, temples, jawline, lower face, nasolabial folds and marionette lines.

Skin goals
Better firmness, improved facial support, softer lines and a fresher overall appearance.

Next step
Consultation to assess suitability, treatment areas and how many sessions may be appropriate for your goals.

Sculptra is used where collagen loss has contributed to flatter contours, facial hollowing, reduced skin firmness and deeper lines. It may be recommended for areas such as the cheeks, temples, jawline, smile lines and marionette lines, where the aim is to rebuild support gradually and improve overall skin quality rather than simply add immediate volume.

Sculptra may be suitable if you are noticing gradual volume loss, reduced elasticity or changes in facial definition and would prefer a regenerative approach with subtle, progressive results. It is often chosen by patients who want improvement in firmness and structure without looking overfilled. A consultation is important to assess your anatomy, skin quality and medical history, and to confirm whether treatment is appropriate for you.

Your appointment begins with a consultation and treatment plan. On the day, the skin is cleansed and local anaesthetic may be used to improve comfort. Sculptra is then injected into carefully selected areas using a series of precise injections. Treatment usually takes around 45 to 60 minutes, although the full appointment may be longer if numbing is used beforehand.

Most patients find Sculptra manageable, particularly when local anaesthetic is used. You may notice mild stinging, pressure or tenderness during treatment, and some temporary sensitivity afterwards is possible. Comfort can vary depending on the area treated and your individual sensitivity.

After treatment, it is normal to experience some temporary swelling, redness, tenderness or bruising at the injection sites. The treated area can also feel slightly firm or uneven for a short period while everything settles. Because Sculptra works by stimulating collagen gradually, any early fullness after treatment is usually temporary, and the true result develops progressively over the following weeks and months.

Downtime is usually manageable, although mild swelling or bruising may last for a few days. Aftercare may include avoiding strenuous exercise, alcohol, excessive heat and direct sun exposure for the first 24 hours, and your practitioner may advise gentle massage of the treated areas for several days depending on your treatment plan. Specific aftercare instructions should always be followed carefully.

Sculptra works gradually, so results are not immediate. Early improvement may begin within several weeks, with fuller results continuing to develop over the following months as new collagen forms. A course of treatments spaced several weeks apart is commonly recommended, and results can last up to around two years, although longevity varies depending on the individual and treatment plan.
