Before the Treatment
- Skin will be cleansed
- A topical numbing cream is often applied for 20–30 minutes (many patients tolerate it well without).
- Your practitioner will place protective eyewear on you.
- The treatment area is mapped and the laser is passed over the skin
During the Treatment
Patients usually describe the feeling as:
- Warm prickling or sandpaper sensation
- Mild heat as the laser passes over the skin
Most clinics use cooling air to keep the skin comfortable.
Pain level is generally very tolerable compared with more aggressive lasers
Immediately After
Your skin will look:
- Pink to red (similar to mild sunburn)
- Slightly warm and tight
Some patients experience mild swelling, especially around the eyes.
This stage usually lasts a few hours to 24 hours
The Next Few Days (Important Stage)
Over the next 3–5 days, you may notice tiny rough spots on the skin called:
MENDS (Microscopic Epidermal Necrotic Debris)
They look like:
- small sandpaper-like dots
- slightly bronzed or darker speckles
This is normal and means the treatment is working. They will naturally shed
